I have been following your blog for a bit now. For the other 3 people who might read this, my brother is writing from Kuwait on his blog, Wandering Thoughts. He is also currently writing on Leadership, from a ... militaristic perspective? Something like that.
Check it out.

Rick-
This goes along with a series I'm doing on my blog on leadership. Funny how we are thinking alike. I agree, though, most of the optimistic sayings out there are crap. You have to work your little butt off to get good at anything, and it takes a long time to gain any profit out of it.

And I agree as well that firing someone who's not blowing your skirt up is a little drastic- you as a manager have to find a way to make that person productive before you write them off.

That's all. Check out the blog if you get a chance.
